BHP starts full capacity production of Finmet HBI

As scheduled, in mid-October 2001 four-train operation commenced at the BHP Billion Finmet hot briquetted iron (HBI) plant, Port Hedland.After successful operation with three trains (production units) during the past few months and the achievement of several production records, the Finmet plant is now operating at full capacity producing approximately 7000 t/day of HBI with a product quality that fully meets the market specifications.
