Exacting demands are placed on plants for the slitting and trimming of thin strips. With continuous operation and with long strip lengths it is absolutely necessary to achieve the best possible, reproducible cutting. In so doing, great value is attached not only to the width tolerances but also the strip edge quality. The cutting tools are expected to have long service lives and the plant should be able to be quickly re-set to a new cutting programme, if possible, automatically. Finally, all production and setting data should be documented by an operational data acquisition system.
