HOT ROLLING Microalloyed heavy plate ranks among the most versatile materials for demanding applications such as ship-building or pipe production. For the production of such plate not only precise monitoring of the rolling process is essential but also precise control of the subsequent cooling procedure. Mulpic cooling technology enables plate mill operators to produce the complete spectrum of microalloyed materials using the conventional "in line" process route. Directly after the plate mill stand, the metallurgical properties of the heavy plate can be controlled by means of precipitation hardening or grain refinement techniques.
