摘要

Vertical electrical soundings (VES) were conducted in Kagna river sub-basin to study the geo-electrical characteristics of the geological formations and groundwater potentiality of the area A correlation of the VES curves with the lithologic log from existing bore holes suggests that the major lithologic units penetrated are laterite, clay, hard basalt and granite. The clay zones are clearly demarkated by its low resistivity values of less than 10 ohm-m. Deeply weathered and fractured zones upto 20-25 mts thickness are easily identified by its moderate resistivity values from both granite and deccan trap regions of the area.
