Alunorf--The world's largest aluminium processing works

The roiling mill at Aluminium Norf GmbH (Alunorf) in Neuss, Germany, was already one of the largest and most modern European works. The two partners, Aican Deutschland GmbH and VAW Aluminium AG, have recently expanded the works at a cost of almost 1 billion DM. The focal point of the project involved construction of new hot strip and cold rolling mills, both plants having been supplied by SMS Schloemann-Siemag AG. The facilities include a semi-continuous hot mill with four finishing stands for rolling wide high-strength strip as well as a 2-stand tandem cold mill. The Alunorf roling capacity has been increased to 1.4 million t of hot strip and 900000t of cold strip.
