Hot direct connection of the casting and rolling process offers considerable economical ad-vantages.On the one hand just-in-time production can be achieved, which lowers production costs, and on the other hand, utilizing the heat content of the cast slab in a directly coupled process can save energy.The advantages of direct linkage of casting and rolling can be achieved with different casting configurations ranging from thin to conventional casting thickness, especially for low carbon steel grades.
