摘要

A two-dimensional mathematical model ofsteelmaking ladles is presented. The model can be used as a designtool, by which a number of variables such as holding time,material choice, and refractory layer thicknesses can be studiedwith regard to their influence on the steel temperature evolutionduring casting. In addition, the model can act as a decision supportand as a basis for automation of temperature control. Temperaturemeasurements from an operational steelmaking ladle are comparedto simulation results obtained with the model, demonstrating itsfeasibility and applicability to steelmaking.
