UK furnace builder Monometer has recently been involved with the refurbishment of an 8 tonne hydraulic tilting reverberatory furnace in South Africa and a similar Stonne furnace in the Middle East. Both these furnaces were originally supplied by Monometer in the 1980's. The 8 tonne furnace was originally supplied to E & E Kaye of Enfield and incorporates a tubular-recuperator to achieve a melting performance of 30 therms/tonne, The refurbishment involves the supply of the latest refractory lining techniques and a burner system suitable for local South African methane gas. The hydraulic rams have also been fully overhauled.
