YPF widens shale development in Argentina while boosting takeaway capacity for growth

YPF, the biggest oil and natural gas producer in Argentina, is widening shale exploration beyond Vaca Muerta, while building new pipelines to support its oil growth from that shale play, CFO Alejandro Lew said Nov. 9. “We are moving forward with a strategy to explore beyond Vaca Muerta,” he said on a conference call with investors. In September, the state-backed company was awarded exploration concessions for the Campamento Este and La Azucena blocks in Palermo Aike, an undeveloped shale play in southern Patagonia, Lew said.
