THE North American minor metals markets continue to soften, although some of the markets may be seeing a glimmer of hope on the horizon. While some indium market sources have suggested that enquiries may be on the rise for the short term, prices continue to reflect a soft market. Business has been concluded at 350 dollars/kg for some 100kg business and a 30kg sale of 99.95 percent was concluded at 290 dollars/kg with offers being quoted for 99.99 percent at 300 dollars/kg. Meanwhile, the North American bismuth market has been quiet, although orders for bismuth alloy continue to be strong, attributed, at least partially, to increasing demand for new applications. Approximately five tonnes of metallurgical grade bismuth were sold at 3.85 dollars/lb.
