German special steels group Georgsmarienhutte (GMH) plans to raise prices by about 10 percent next year, the company told MB this week. The increase is necessary because costs are expected to go up in 2001, especially rates for electricity, gas and freight.The step follows similar e last two weeks by Corus Engineering Steels and Sweden's Ovako Steel, both of which said they planned to put up prices by about 10 percent for deliveries starting on January 1. The pair said they would push for the rise in negotiations to renew annual contracts, especially with the automotive sector.
