Aesthetics were important, but so was performance. And that's precisely why aluminum composite metal wall panels were specified for the exterior of the new Providence-Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, AK. "Cruise ships and oil tankers inspired the new building's maritime imagery, with both interior and exterior elements having a subtle, nautical theme," reads a design statement by Prochaska & Associates, the project's Omaha, NE-based architect. "The metal panels enhanced this theme with a clean, ship-like appearance. The aluminum facing was also appropriate due to its corrosion resistance in the coastal saltwater environment."
