PLACER Dome has announced it will make a public tender offering of 12.50 C dollars per share for International Musto Explorations, the Canadian junior which holds a 50 percent interest in the Bajo de la Alumbrera gold-copper porphyry deposit in Argentina. It is widely expected that other bids will follow. Placer said the bid will cost the company around 304m dollars, including Musto shares issuable under outstanding options and warrants. The offer is subject to the usual conditions, including a requirement that 90 percent of the outstanding shares are tendered - which under Canadian law would enable Placer to take the remainder and secure 100 percent ownership. The company' s offer will close on April 28.
