LTV Copperweld restructures tube business

LTV Copperweld has restructured its tubular products business, combining the operations of its mechanical and structural groups to form a centralised tubular products organisation.The new group is headed by executive vp David Mitch, former senior vp of the structural group. It also includes the company's new Marion, Ohio plant, which had been part of the pipe and tube group. LTV Copperweld expects to explore operating synergies among the Marion plant, a producer of as-welded mechanical steel tubing for the auto industry, and two other mechanical tube mills in Shelby and Piqua, Ohio.
