Atlantic Copper to finish basic engineering on refinery expansion by year-end

Spain's Atlantic Copper, in which Freeport MeMoRan is a major shareholder, is currently carrying out basic engineering with a view to expanding its copper refinery by 60,000 tpy to 320,000 tpy of cathode.The contract is being carried out by the German company Lurgi and should be finished by the year-end at which time estimates on the cost of the expansion should also emerge.
