Hyperfine interactions have been studied at the5T2rlarr2;1A1transition in the solid complexes Fe(papt)2, Fe(papt)2middot; 4sol;3CHCl3, and Fe(papt)2middot; C6H6employing an external field Hextequals;40 kG and temperatures between 4.2deg; and 180deg;K paptequals;2hyphen;(2hyphen;pyridyl)thiazolate. It is shown that the1A1ground state may be characterized byVzz0, eegr;sim;0.7, andHnequals;0. For the5T2ground state, the result is, within the khgr; tensor approximation,Vzz0, eegr;sim;0.75,Hnxequals;Hnyequals;minus;15 kG, andHnzequals;minus;10 kG. The hyperfine fields at the iron(II) nuclei are identical for the three complexes studied here in the1A1and5T2ground states separately.
