About the project: An historic past and a promising future are reflected through the use of traditional elements and state-of-the-art construction materials on the 250 million dollars Fed Ex Forum. It is the largest public building construction project in the Memphis history. The arena is located near historic Beale Street in the heart of the city's entertainment district. It is the home of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and seats 18,200 spectators on five levels for the team's games. A variety of other seating layouts and an integrated ice floor allow it to be used for a host of different events as well. Related elements of the project are a 1,500-vehicle parking garage, a four-story office building and the Smithsonian Institution's Rock 'n' Soul Museum. A connection to Memphis' music scene is established through the creation of themed areas in the concourses and a public art project.
