Located between the University of Arizona's new Medical Research Building and the Thomas Keating Research Building is a large rooftop courtyard that features a striking steel shade structure. Measuring 300' long and 87' tall, it was constructed by stretching 4'-wide architectural woven mesh panels between stainless steel cables. The Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership of Los Angeles, CA, designed the shade structure, which uses 240 individual panels, some measuring up to 37' in length. The material used for their construction was Solar mesh by Cambridge Architectural of Cambridge, MD.
