Parking garages are an ideal market for woven metals. They provide security and good looks, and are virtually maintenance free. A new parking structure near Sun Devil Stadium on the Arizona State University campus in Tempe illustrates that point. It features woven metal systems from Cambridge Architectural of Cambridge, MD. Featured on the structure, which was completed in June 2005, are Cambridge's Balance and Stripe mesh patterns, mounted with specially engineered Scroll, Eclipse and J-Hook attachment systems. The mesh meets fall protection requirements and, when used as a crash barrier, eliminates the added cost of handrails. The attachment hardware, invisible from outside the structure, was designed to keep an aesthetic focus on the mesh and required far fewer structurally embedded supports than heavier panelized alternatives.
