Metal tile panels okayed for use in fort worth historical district

Many of the buildings in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District were built in the 19th Century and have tile roofs. When TEKMAK Development of Dallas, TX, began planning the construction of an AmeriSuites Hotel within the district, matching those types of roofs became a design goal. 'The challenge we faced in the Stockyards project was to develop a hotel that blended in with the surrounding buildings and seamlessly fit within the existing architecture," said Tom Kirkland of TEKMAK. "Cost, as always, was a major factor. Development within the Stockyards area is subject to architectural approval from an historical preservation committee whose blessing we had to receive before construction could begin."
