Located on a brownstone-lined street in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, this 12-story mixed-use building features 27 apartments above a two-story base with 20,800 sq. ft. of office space and a parking area. The 67,919 sq. ft. building was built amidst some controversy as neighbors protested the height and design of the project. However, after the Department Of Buildings conducted an audit of the building plans, it was determined that the developers could actually add another floor. Cladding the 123'-high walls are 30,000 sq. ft. of Alucobond Plus aluminum composite material from Alcan Composites of Benton, KY. Installer Kenneth J. Herman Inc., Amityville, NY, fabricated the 4mm panels from three colors of material: Sunrise Silver Metallic, Copper Metallic and Champagne Metallic. They were installed over gypsum sheathing on steel studs using a rout and return dry gasketed attachment method. Panels for the two curved walls were rolled for a smooth, unsegmented section.
