While the materials used for its construction are the same as those of surrounding buildings, few would confuse the new East Side Neighborhood Services building in Minneapolis for a factory or warehouse. Charged with making sure it wasn't was the project's designer; Sjoquist Architects.The Minneapolis-based firm used a combination of brick, block and metal for the building's construction, arranging them in an attractive manner that helped define its spaces and diminish its scale. Housed within the 60,000 sq. ft. building are an alternative high school, a daycare center and the offices of various social services bureaus.
