Avalon Elementary School

While standing seam roofing was originally considered for the new 51,000 sq. ft. elementary school, the building team wanted a product with a more residential look. DC Architects, Upland, CA, incorporated design features on the school found throughout the Villages Of Avalon planned community-such as a Spanish-style exterior and gable-ended roofs-so it was important that the school blend with its surroundings. Met-Tile roofing from Met-Tile Inc., Ontario, CA, combined the benefits of metal with the desired aesthetics. United Contractors, San Bernardino, CA, installed 64,000 sq. ft. of the 26-gauge Zincalume tile panels on seven buildings in the complex. These included administration, library, media center and classroom buildings. A custom Copper Penny silicone modified polyester finish coats the panels. Met-Tile Inc. also provided the Spanish-style flashings to optimize the Mission look of the roof lines. Rough-textured multi-coat stucco walls complete the effect.
