University Of Arkansas Renovation Project Features Metal Wall Panels That Resemble Precast Concrete

The University of Arkansas recently utilized CENTRIA's Formawall Dimension Series panels with Duracast finish system for the renovation of its Science and Engineering building. Duracast was developed for architects who desire the look of precast but the benefits of metal. Among those benefits are significant cost savings and less disruptive installation. The renovation project was designed to meet the university's desire to blend the appearance of the 1960s-era Science and Engineering building with an adjacent precast building. AmirmoezFosterHaileyJohnson Architects and Planners of Fayetteville, AR, first investigated the possibility of using precast for the renovation but determined that in addition to extensive demolition, costly structural modifications would be needed to support its weight. Consequently, AFHJ specified CENTRIA's Formawall panels with the Duracast finish system because the lightweight metal panels could be installed on a subframing system attached directly to the existing cladding.
