In its plan to turn a run-down Quonset Hut into an attractive mixed-use commercial building, a California architectural firm opted to celebrate the characteristics of the original structure rather than change them. As part of the 20,000 sq. ft. building's renovation, the firm gutted the interior and replaced the project's original skin with new metal wall and roof panels."The 50-year-old warehouse building was extremely dilapidated-nothing short of an eyesore," stated Al Saroyan, AIA, principal of Saroyan Architecture, Sand City, CA.
