The sun was still shy below the horizon when we left the Alte Kalkhofen Lodge on the cold, windy morning of 26 May 2012 and headed the 120 km west to Aus. We were to meet Alex, the Namibian Nature Conservation employee, for breakfast at the Bahnhof Hotel in Aus and to plan our approach to the Tsaus Plateau in the Sperrgebiet where Lithops hermetica grows.
