EREPSIA (SEMNANTHE) LA CERA

I wonder how many of you took advantage of the MSG seed offer for this species and how many of you were put off by the fact that it is a 'shrubby'? This plant was originally named Mesembryanthemum lacerum by Haworth, then re-classified as Kensitia byN.E. Brown. Other names it has had are: Semnanthe lacera var. lacera, S. lacera var densipetala and of course S.lacera. In the Handbook of Succulent Plants: Aizoaceae F-Z edited by Heidrum Hartmann, p296, the genus Semnanthe was subsumed into Erepsia asin 1990 S.Liede found that Semnanthe lacera was not separable from the genus Erepsia containing several fat-leaved species with five or more locules. The genus Semnanthe was, therefore, included in Erepsia subg. Crassifoliae.
