FIELD TOUR - NAMIBIA & SOUTH AFRICA, September, 2006

In September, 2006,1 was fortunate in being able to join the Field Tour which had been arranged to precede the three-yearly Congress of the Succulent Society of South Africa, held at Calitzdorp in the Republic. We started at Windhoek in Namibia,headed for Swakopmund on the coast, then worked progressively down to Luderitz, the Orange River, over into South Africa, the Richtersveldt and Namaqualand, finishing at Calitzdorp in the Little Karroo, 320 km East of Cape Town. Total recorded mileage was 4,404km in 14 days, eleven of us in two 4 X 4's with a trailer for luggage.
