For this issue of Methods we have assembled a set of articles that focuses on genomic approaches for studying transcriptional and post-transcriptional processes. These articles describe the latest methods for both laboratory and computational analyses of eukaryotic RNA. Recent years have brought tremendous advances in our understanding of RNA biology, with many of these advances built on the application of state-of-the-art genomic techniques. Like most other aspects of modern genomics, these techniques build heavily on next-generation sequencing to provide massive datasets that are capable of providing precise and robust measurements.
