The composition of waste water and the requirements established for the methods used to purify it serve as the starting point in any design of water treatment facilities. As an example, the author proposes the use of a unit whose stationary drum is supplied with pre-dried sediment. Rotating tubular packing located inside the drum ensures constant mixing of the sediment. Steam or hot solutions serve as the heat carrier. The unit can be adapted for use in a wide range of industries -for drying sediment in chemicals manufacturing, mining, food processing, and woodworking.
