摘要

Studies are made of changes in the oxidation state of heats of different grades of steel in an open-hearth furnace and a converter. Formulas are proposed and substantiated for calculating the mass content of carbon in the steel based on measurements of the activity of oxygen. It is established that for killed steels it is best to use data on oxidation state to standardize the consumption of aluminum and its alloys. Recommendations on standardizing the consumption of aluminum-bearing materials to deoxidize killed steels were developed and validated through testing. As regards rimming steels, it is shown that it is best to regulate the oxidation state of the steel at tapping through additions of carbon in order to reduce the number of heats requiring complex deoxidation and, ultimately, also reduce the consumption of ferromanganese in ladle deoxidation.
