MODERNIZING THE DESIGN OF MOLD SLEEVES FOR CASTING CIRCULAR SEMIFINISHED PRODUCTS

The growth that is now taking place in the oil and gas industries and power-plant construction is making it necessary to find more efficient methods of tube production. The semifinished products used to make tubes must meet more rigid requirements due to the specific features of the rotary rolling operation that is used and certain aspects of deformation of the product's central part. An analysis of the status of the commercial production of cast circular semifinished tubes in Russia showed that growing this subsector and improving the technical-economic indices of its products will require a decrease in the ovality of the continuous-cast semifinished products, an improvement in their macrostructure, an increase in casting speed, and a consequent increase in productivity and decrease in the number of accidents.
