Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs) Conforming to the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Standard

The Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC), "MEICAP," is an energy storage device with no chemical reactions. It has a feature that the reduction of the static capacitance is small even after the charge-discharge cycles of a large current in a short time. This feature is suitable for application to dynamic voltage compensators, regenerative power absorption equipment for electric railway, power backup equipment, and so on. Meidensha Corporation developed MEICAP conforming to one of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standards for safety that is an international standard for product safety. By being approved by rigorous UL Standards, the Company could offer MEICAP with improved safety to Japanese and overseas customers and we would like to make a further business development of EDLC sales.
