摘要

Regenerative braking, which is a kind of electric car braking, converts the kinetic energy to the electric energy (regenerated power) that is then fed to another electrical load. If there is no load to consume the regenerated power, the feeder voltage will rise and the regenerated brake will fail to function. This phenomenon is called a regeneration failure and results in a problem in electric car operation. To solve this problem, the regenerated energy absorbing equipment, "CAPAPOST," was delivered to SEIBU RAILWAY Co., Ltd. This equipment consists mainly of Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs). In March 2008, prior to regular operation, this equipment was put into a series of car test running. According to the result of this testing, it was verified that CAPAPOST, worked out effectively in the applied car operating section.
