Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) over Internet Protocol (IP) for Railways

Meidensha Corporation developed the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) over Internet Protocol (IP) for Railways. With this equipment, supervisory control and data acquisition of devices installed in remote locations can be made by way of IP networks using fiber optic cables or metallic cables. The system uses the Protocol for Mission Critical industrial Network (PMCN) use developed by the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association (JEMA). PMCN enhanced the functions of continuity checks and error detection and correction. This ensures high reliability of the RTU under Internet Protocol.
