Biological role of cholesterol oxidation products in human and animal bodies [Review] [Polish]

摘要

The article presents results of numerous studies on the role of cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) - oxysterols in human and animal bodies. Intestinal absorption as well as formation in vivo of COPs has been discussed. Composition and level of oxysterols (free, esterified and bound with lipoproteins) in human plasma has been presented. The metabolic pathways of COPs in human and animal tissues have been discussed along with their influence on cell vital functions.
