To support car drivers on expressways and general roads, a consummate improvement in road servicing is called for, such as the presentation of information about the time needed to attain the destination or detailed information about traffic. From a viewpoint of cost reduction, there is a contradictory requirement for the accomplishment of improved servicing by the use of existing facilities without installing various facilities newly. Meidensha Corporation has product lineups such as the "image recognition equipment" that has been introduced to the automated assembly lines for automotive parts and to the filtration error supervisory system (for microbes recognition). Based on Meidensha's unique know-how in regard to the "image recognition technologies" accumulated in the past ten years, we have completed and put the "traffic supervisory equipment" into production; it will be introduced below. To support the "improved servicing for car drivers," this equipment produces the traffic-related information based on the images of cars running on express highways.
