The Lomza Branch of the Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences (PSVS) was established in 1982. In 1992, after ten years of activity, it was renamed the Lomza-Ostroleka Branch, which functioned until 1999. During the sixteen years of its activity it held over 200 conferences, symposia and meetings. During that period the chairman of the Lomza-Ostroleka Branch was Prof. Miroslaw Kleczkowski. He was assisted by the heads of the Voivodeship Veterinary Station in Lomza and Ostroleka and by board members. Since 1 January 1999 a new administrative division of Poland has been in effect. In the same year the Branch was dissolved, but it was reactivated in 2010. The chairman of the Branch is Dr. Jozef Bialowas, and its vice-chairman is Dr. Marian Czerski. The Branch will promote Polish veterinary practice and science, especially in the areas known for successfully developing dairy farming, between Warsaw, Bialystok and Olsztyn.
