Koch to Equip Army Purifiers

MECO,manufacturer of the Army's new Lightweight Water Purification units(LWPs),has selected Koch Membrane Systems'(KMS)Romipure hollow fiber UF membranes and Fluid Systems TFC spiral wound RO elements for use in the portable treatment unit.Designed to fit into the cargo space of a High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle(HMMWV),the LWP can be transported in a single lift of a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter.Membrane processes have been selected for the LWP because they reliably produce fresh water while keeping equipment space and weight to a minimum.Another advantage is low chemical consumption and reduced waste generation as compared to other types of water treatment.
