Efficient MBR operation in wastewater treatment

This patent describes a sewage treatment facility that employs, on the liquid side, a basin or basins with membrane separators or membrane bioreactors for dewatering sludge. Filtration is suspended or 'relaxed' in short, rapid cycles, with air scour activated during 'relaxation'. This process strips accumulated solids from the membranes more efficiently, improves membrane efficiency and reduces overall air scour requirements.
