We live in a 'digital age', a time of computerized wonders. At the heart of this revolution is the Internet, a unified network that allows us to connect, communicate and collaborate through multiple technologies. Being connected increasingly defines our ability to function in the world. Finding ourselves without network access can be frustrating, even disorienting. While many of us have developed an emotional dependence on our access to networks, many of us still struggle to understand how to best use them for educational purposes. This edition of eMT explores the nature of value networks in medical education to suggest ways for practitioners to make more informed use of networked learning environments.
