UK coal margin holds thin advantage over gas

THE MARGIN for coal-fired power generation in the United Kingdom (UK) rose over the past fortnight amid easing power prices, but its advantage over the equivalent gas margin remained narrow at less than 1.50 pounds/MWh. In Germany, the coal-fired margin remained firmly ahead of gas, although there was an improvement for both fuels thanks to higher power prices.
