COAL INDIA'S (CIL) production climbed 8.9 year on year in April-September, the first six months of the country's fiscal year. The state-owned miner produced 229.54 mt, up from 210.75 mt in the same period last year. The rate of growth slowed slightly from 9.4 year on year in April-August. This was reflected in a drop in coal stocks at major power plants in September, according to Central Electricity Authority data.
