The German aluminium semi-finishedproducts industry showed itself to bestrong and in good condition last year.Production of German rolling and extrusionpress plants rose by 7.8 to roughly2.63 million tonnes, which correspondsto annual sales of roughly six billion euros.For economic development in 2017semi-finished product companies remainoptimistic. "Opportunities for aluminiumremain very good in a wide variety ofareas of application and industries. Notonly has it become an innovative materialof the future in automobile manufacturing,but also in other mobility applicationssuch as aircraft and ship building,or in rail and utility vehicles the demandfor aluminium will continue to increase,”says Bernd Schafer, chairman of the aluminiumsemis division of the German aluminiumassociation GDA, on the generalmeeting in mid-March 2017.
