Oriented paediatric resuscitation: A new training approach

What problems were addressed? The Oriented Paediatric Resuscitation Training course was first created in response to the needs of paediatric resident doctors at our hospital. However, we soon realised that this model could reduce costs and reach a large number of professionals situated remotely from academic centres. It could also assist them in achieving higher standards of paediatric resuscitation skills.In the past, resuscitation training was given at the bedside in hospitals during medical graduate courses when less effective methods of health care meant that opportunities to learn the principles of resuscitation during bedside teaching were more frequent. These opportunities are now rarer as a result of improved clinical conditions in the majority of hospitals.
