Preamble to Invited Commentary: 'Communicating Genomic Risk in Primary Health Care: Challenges and Opportunities for Providers'

The following piece, "Communicating Genomic Risk in Primary Health Care: Challenges and Opportunities for Providers," is published as a special invited commentary in collaboration with Health Science Inquiry, a student-led journal that facilities discourse on pertinent issues in the health and medical sciences. Health Science Inquiry produces an annual publication of pieces written by Canadian graduate students. Through this platform, Health Science Inquiry provides a forum for students to publish their opinions, fostering the development of emerging researchers, clinicians, and scientists. In October 2013, students from across Canada were invited to submit short commentaries on Primary Health Care and Primary Care Delivery. After undergoing blinded peer review, articles were ranked according to predefined criteria by an expert panel of 12 faculty judges recruited from Canadian institutions. Scores were then summed as a collective rank of faculty member's selections. This commentary had the highest collective rank in its category, and after further review was invited for publication in Medical Care. Medical Care is pleased to collaborate with Health Science Inquiry, and to support students in their efforts to publish.
