Exports-tough pricing

Market conditions outside of Japan are as tough as ever. Although beams and structurals prices are low, they have remained stable recently. The HR coil market is in a more distressed state. Preliminary figures showed that the volume of Japanese exports of HR coil was running about 9 percent below the rate of 2000, around 7.5m tonnes. Even reduced tonnage was achieved only by accepting lower prices, 190/t dollars fob or less. In some cases with regular customers exports were shipped without settling the price.
