Solid austerity intensifies with metallurgical mine closure

New Zealand STATE-CONTROLLED coal shipper Solid Energy has intensified operational cutbacks following a review as part of its voluntary administration process, confirmed by creditors last month. The company plans to close its Huntly East metallurgical coal mine, which sells most of its output to New Zealand Steel. Solid's post-administration review process includes identifying any unsaleable assets, with the bulk of its operations slated for sale over the next two-and-a-half years, it said.
