For most of 2007, the market's bearish perception about zinc's outlook meant that prices consistently failed to attract follow-through buying when any advances were made. The run up to resistance at 2,560 dollars/tonne in January was another example of this, and prices quickly slumped back. In fact, the equity market sell-off prior to the Fed's surprise 75 basis point cut in interest rates, took official three-month zinc prices past November's low of 2,206 dollars/tonne to 2,201 dollars/tonne.
