Optimising baby to breast attachment (OBBA): A pilot randomised controlled trial of a complex intervention

A large number of mothers in the UK who initiate breastfeeding give up prior to six weeks because of feeding problems. Around 80% of these may arise because of poor baby-to-breast attachment (BBA) (International Lactation Consultant Association, 2008). In 3 phases the OBBA study: refined, tested feasibility, and evaluated a complex intervention designed to optimise baby-to-breast attachment.
